Sugar Creek Public Fishing Area
on Sugar Creek in Indiana

The Sugar Creek Public Fishing Area is out in the country. It has ample parking, but it is a short hike to get down to the water. You will not see this on the satellite map because it is new.

From the water this can be a tricky place to find because it is located on a side channel (depending on water level) and not in the main channel of Sugar Creek. Here the river takes a bend to the right around what may appear to be a huge wooded sandbar that could be an island at higher flows. The trail (through the woods) leading to the parking lot is a decent walk over this sandbar to the left bank. (Remember, this spot was designed for bank fishing access, not boat access to the river.)
